The only pink airport in the world
At Flamingo International Airport Bonaire every day hundreds of people arrive. It is a colorful arrival as the main color is pink and the arrival area is decorated with surf sails in all colors. People come mainly from nearby islands like Curacao, Aruba and St. Maarten but also from Europe on a direct flight from Amsterdam with KLM or from the United States. From the moment you arrive on the island you will feel the warm breeze. You will need to take the stairs down out of the plane and walk to the arrival hall where your passport is checked and where your luggage arrives. The maximum amount of days one can stay on Bonaire is 90 days.
Bonaire has only one luggage claim area and after you recovered your bags you pass a luggage check and you arrive in an open air arrival hall where friends, family and taxi drivers will welcome you. “Bon Bini” na Bonaire means welcome to Bonaire.
The check-in area is on the left side of the building. For flights to Europe or The United States it is recommended to arrive as early as possible, best is 3 hours before departure and for a short flight to Curacao 90 minutes before sceduled departure.
At the airport is a small shop with souvenirs, books and toys, a restaurant that serves great food, a MCB bank and an ATM machine with US dollars, toilets and a meeting point. The airport has a long and short term parking. The fee for short parking is $0.50 up to an hour and $1,- every extra hour and payable in US dollars. Long term parking is $6,- per day. You do not need to pay airport tax. Luggage carts are available for free in the main hall where the ticket counters are located and in the luggage claim area.
